TVP Tunneling Portal

TVP Tunneling Portal

In conjunction with small gallery cross-sections and medium-sized tunnel profiles, which often have to be driven in difficult rock conditions, great flexibility at the face is required during machine deployment. A separation of the individual operations and construction areas, such as tunnel driving, floor excavation, muck haulage and roof support, is to be targeted. The aim is to accomplish a near continuous tunnelling process by transferring certain operations from the floor to the upper level.

To achieve these objectives, GTA developed the TVP Tunnelling Portal in association with the Austrian company Beton- und Monierbau.

The machine consists of a skid-mounted gantry frame that in the roof section can be equipped with up to three longitudinal slider tracks, to which various machines, such as drills, shotcrete manipulators and work baskets with integral control equipment, if applicable, can be attached.

The TVP is either drawn behind a combined tunnel boring and loading machine (e.g. a Schaeff ITC 312) or moved along the tunnel on crawler tracks.

Advantages:

  • Can be used in poor rock conditions and where there is little overburden (as no loads are transferred to the tunnel roof)
  • Maximum flexibility and parallelisation of operations
  • Integration of a wide range of equipment
  • The segment design of the gantry frame permits quick and variable adjustment to different tunnel cross-sections
  • Reduction of setup times thanks to continuous supply of power, air and water through trailing lines attached to the system
  • No harmful emissions as powered electrohydraulically
  • Modular design allows the machine to be disassembled for transportation
  • 80 kW electrohydraulic drive guarantees independent power supply
  • Robust design suitable for tunnelling applications
