Support-Setting Device
Support-setting devices are deployed with roadheaders for the installation of steel arches when excavating underground roadways. These devices perform the setting of one or two roof bars or a support (with props retracted).
Generally three criteria are fulfilled by the deployment of support-setting devices: Improved safety at the roadhead, labour savings during roadheader operations and improved performance and thus reduced costs of roadheader operations.
GTA has developed two types of support-setting device that differ in terms of size and design.
Support-Setting Device TS 2500
The TS 2500 Support-Setting Device is suspended from and travels on an overhead I 140 E rail and has been approved by the regional chief mines inspectorate as a mechanical forepoling device. The machine is used for support installation purposes in roadheader operations.
Advantages:
- Low overall height, which means it can be used in almost all roadheader operations
- Roof bars can be taken up either centrally or from the left- or right-hand roadway wall
- Simultaneous installation of two roof bars
- Control from the floor of the roadway
- Robust design suitable for mining applications
Support Setting Device AMG 5001/5002
The AMG 5001/5002 Support-Setting Device is suspended from and travels on an overhead I 140 E rail and has been approved by the regional chief mines inspectorate as a mechanical forepoling device. The machine is used for support installation purposes in roadheader operations. The AMG 5001 is designed for the installation of a single steel arch, whereas the AMG 5002 permits the simultaneous setting of two steel arches.
Advantages:
- Low overall height, which means it can be used in almost all roadheader operations
- Roof bars can be taken up either centrally or from the left- or right-hand roadway wall
- Simultaneous installation of two roof bars (Type 5002)
- Control from the floor of the roadway
- Robust design suitable for mining applications
- Can be upgraded to an AMG 5000 Roadway Support Machine by the addition of a work platform
